Moultrie Solar Power PanelOverall I have been very pleased with Moultrie game cameras and the battery life has been fairly good.  That was up until we tested the Moultrie M-80 trail camera in the plot stalker mode.  At its current settings it was just shy of 3,000 pictures a day and it didn’t take more than 2 days to kill the AA batteries.

The only way to run a trail camera in a plot scenario is to use an external solar panel like the Moultrie Power Panel.  The solar panel is easy to setup and connect any Moultrie game camera and in the long run will save money on disposable batteries.  It will also allow for a longer run time in the field which means less scent and presence around your cameras.

Moultrie M80 Trail Camera ReviewBest trail camera for the money!  So why do I say that?  Lets take a look at the Moultrie M-80 Mini in more detail.  First off Moultrie has traditionally built game cameras for the budget minded hunter – not the cheapest in the trail camera game and certainly not the most expensive.  The majority of Moultrie game cameras have been larger in size such as the Moultrie Game Spy I-35 or the Moultrie Game Spy I-65S Game Camera.  This year Moultrie released two new versions the Moultrie M-80 and M-100 Mini game cameras.  These compact cameras are half the size of their relatives and pack a major punch and add new features not found on similar size and cost trail cameras.
